1. Who are you and what is your professional
passion?
My name is David Parada, born in Madrid. I am
percussionist and specialized in afrocuban music and flamenco
rhythms. With La Kandela I
teach and develop the rhythm that we all contain deep inside. My
great passion is percussion.
2. How would you characterize Madrid in three
words?
Madrid is a full swing cosmopolitan city, with
century-old but still-alive cultures and... a very lively party
city!
3. Which are your three favourites spots in Madrid (and why)?
- The Sierra of Madrid, because I like the nature that I enjoy there
- The Rastro-market (on Sundays), because it makes the city even more passionate and fun
- The Retiro-parque: you can't leave without having visited it
4. What will you and MadWay offer the
traveller?
We offer a Latin Rhythm Workshop, based on the “cajon”
used in Flamenco music. A practical and entertaining class with
professional instruments in a relaxed atmosphere (my cavern-like
hide-out in La Latina). In this class we work on rhythm and
locomotion through exercising, listening and practicing the
instrument and by doing the typical flamenco clapping of your own
hands.
